Ex-Whalers tough guy Tuer joins IHL expansion team in San Diego

Former Binghamton Whalers defenseman Al Tuer has found a new venue for his tough guy style of play.

The Gulls, San Diego's International Hockey League expansion team, has signed two more players - Tuer and left wing Taylor Hall, general manager Don Waddell said Monday.

Tuer and Hall are the Gulls' fourth and fifth acquisitions.

In 57 games last season with the Binghamton Whalers, Tuer had three goals, seven assists and 176 penalty minutes.

Tuer had one goal, seven assists and 234 penalty minutes in 43 games for Binghamton in 1988-89.
