Danbury, CT - The Binghamton Black Bears continued their strong start to the 2026-27 season Friday night, putting together a dominant offensive performance against the Danbury Hat Tricks at the Danbury Ice Arena. After trailing following the opening period, Binghamton erupted for four goals in the second period and added two more in the third to skate away with a convincing 6-2 victory.

The win improves the Black Bears' record to 5-1-0 on the season, giving them 10 points as they remain in second place in the Atlantic Division.
Graham Burke turned aside 18 of 20 shots to earn his third victory of the season, while Danbury goaltender Kyle Penton faced a busy night between the pipes, stopping 54 of 60 shots in the loss.

Chance Gorman led the offensive attack with two power-play goals, extending an impressive streak of scoring at least one power-play goal in each of Binghamton's first six games. Gorman now has seven power-play goals on the season.

FIRST PERIOD – Danbury Strikes First Despite Binghamton's Early Offensive Pressure

Despite controlling much of the opening period, outshooting Danbury 19-6, the Black Bears found themselves trailing 1-0 after the first 20 minutes.

Danbury opened the scoring at the 9:14 mark when Grady Friedman converted on the power play, with Genaro Fronduto and Eli Rivers picking up the assists.

Binghamton had several opportunities to even the score, but Penton kept the Black Bears off the scoreboard through the opening period. The Hat Tricks took advantage of their opportunity on the man advantage, giving the home team a one-goal lead heading into the first intermission.

SECOND PERIOD – Black Bears Explode for Four Goals in Just Over Five Minutes

The Black Bears completely changed the complexion of the game in the second period, scoring four times in just over five minutes to turn a one-goal deficit into a commanding 4-1 advantage.

Brendan Doyle got things started just 2:00 into the period, finding the back of the net with assists from Steve Guo and Jake Hamilton to even the score at 1-1.

Just 1:02 later, Carter Jordan gave Binghamton its first lead of the night, scoring at 3:02. Nick Cyprian and CJ Stubbs were credited with the assists.

The offensive explosion continued at 5:13 when Cyprian added a goal of his own, with Sam Dabrowski and Steven Spetz assisting to make it 3-1.

Binghamton wasn't finished. At 7:10, Chance Gorman continued his remarkable power-play production, scoring his first goal of the evening with assists from CJ Stubbs and Scott Ramaekers. The goal extended Gorman's power-play scoring streak to six consecutive games.

The Black Bears outshot Danbury 21-8 in the second period, carrying a three-goal advantage into the final 20 minutes.

THIRD PERIOD – Gorman Strikes Again on the Power Play as Black Bears Finish Off Danbury

Binghamton added to its lead in the third period, scoring twice on the power play while Danbury managed to find the back of the net once.

CJ Stubbs extended the Black Bears' advantage to 5-1 at 10:52, converting on the power play with assists from Sam Dabrowski and Scott Ramaekers.

The Hat Tricks answered at 15:16 when Grady Friedman scored his second goal of the night, this time shorthanded, with Eli Rivers collecting the assist.

However, any momentum Danbury hoped to gain was short-lived. Just 19 seconds later, Gorman struck again on the power play at 15:35, recording his second goal of the night. CJ Stubbs and Ivan Bondarenko picked up the assists as Binghamton restored its four-goal advantage at 6-2.

The Black Bears finished the night with a commanding 60-20 advantage in shots on goal, including a 20-6 edge in the third period, to secure the 6-2 road victory.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Black Bears improve to 5-1-0 with 10 points and remain in second place in the Atlantic Division.

The two teams won't have to wait long for another meeting. Binghamton and Danbury will now travel to the Southern Tier to complete their home-and-home series on Halloween night at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Black Bears will look to carry their offensive momentum home as they welcome the Hat Tricks to Binghamton.
