October 25, 2026 - by Taylor Welch - BinghamtonHockey.net After a tough loss Friday night I was not shocked to see some line movements and boy oh boy did those changes make a huge difference in Saturday nights game. Now normally I would give each of these guys their own paragraph but with what they did last night I think it deserves to be talked about as a whole. Between these 3 players; CJ Stubbs, Ivan Bondarenko and Sam Dabrowski they took 16 points in the available 30 (24 for Binghamton, 6 for Columbus) and those 3 players took over half the points. After getting a new line mate Carter Jordan, Stubbs and Bondarenko played a game like they were on a mission last night. They opened up the scoring by setting up Jordan to get his first goal as a pro. What followed was goals by each one of these players both Bondarenko and Stubbs had an even strength goal and a power play goal along with Chance Gorman and Sam Dabrowski had a power play goal. Half of the goals scored last night were on the power play and all 4 of them were by a different player. The power play for the Black Bears is becoming lethal and by letting cooler heads prevail what Head Coach Brant Sherwood has created is a disciplined team that is going to make the opposing team pay for penalties. 4 of 5 points for Dabrowski come from the power play proving he is a vital part of the special teams. Every goal on Saturday night had either Stubbs, Bondarenko or Dabrowski on it or even all 3. One area the Black Bears were having a struggle in was scoring 5 on 5 and after Friday nights game I’m sure that locker room knew they needed to step up and Bondarenko and Stubbs were going to take point on that change and show up for their team. One of the ways they did that besides scoring was breaking up the passing lanes for the River Dragons and taking several breakaway opportunities. That was essentailly a way for the Binghamton to give Columbus a taste of their own medicine from Friday nights game. I couldn’t be more impressed with the way this team handled the physicality that the River Dragons tried to have. As the Black gave them a taste by scoring not by getting physical. If this is how the Black Bears are going to bounce back from a close loss we are in for a very interesting season.
