The Binghamton Black Bears (37-10-7) defeated the Danbury Hat Tricks (31-19-5) in the shoot out, 4-3 at the Danbury Ice Arena. The Hat Tricks Steve Brown got called for slashing early in the 1st period which put the Black Bears on the power play, however the Hat Tricks scored a short-handed goal after a Nolan Egbert turn over which allowed Jonny Ruiz to put the home team up 1-0 2:16 into the 1st. With Brodie Thornton on the penalty box for interference, Jonny Ruiz scored his second goal of the game with just 3 seconds to go in the period, the Hat Tricks lead 2-0. In the 2nd period, with the Hat Tricks Zachary Pamaylaon in the penalty box for a 5 minute match penalty, Scott Ramaekers scored the Black Bears first goal on the power play. JT Walters tied the game up on the same 5 minute match penalty making this a 2-2 game at the 10:02 mark of the period. After Dan Wieber got tagged for Tripping in the Black Bears defensive zone, Jacob Ratcliffe broke the tie on the power play with 4:52 left to go in the second period making this a 3-2 Danbury lead. The Black Bears went a man down after Dan Wieber got called for an abuse of officials call which led to a Kyle Stephan short-handed goal that tied the game up at 3 with 5:13 left to go in the 3rd period. Neither team could get on the score sheet in the overtime period which led this game tied at 3 into a shoot out to decide the winner. Nolan Egbert saved all the shots in the shootout and Blake Tosto scored the game winning shoot-out for the Black Bears giving the visiting team the 4-3 shoot out win. |
