The Columbus River Dragons snapped the
Binghamto Black Bears (3-1-0) three-game winning streak to
open the season with a 5-4 victory Friday night in Columbus,
Georgia. Chance Gorman scored twice, including a second-period power-play goal, while Brendan Doyle added a goal in the first period. Gehrett Sargis scored late in the third with the extra attacker, but the Black Bears’ comeback fell one goal short. Kyle Moore scored twice for Columbus, while Alex Storjohann, Yaroslav Yevdokimov and Tyler Barrow also found the net. Barrow's third-period empty-net goal proved to be the game-winner, while Yevdokimov scored a penalty-shot goal and Sargis pulled the game to a 4-5 final with his third period tally. Binghamton outshot Columbus 41-29 but suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 3-1-0. The Black Bears and River Dragons meet again Saturday for the final game of their season series. |
