The Binghamton Black Bears (3-0-0) earned a 2-1
shootout victory over the Port Huron Prowlers
Saturday night at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena,
completing a two-game weekend sweep. Graham Burke
made his professional debut in goal for Binghamton, while Andrew
MacLean started for Port Huron. The opening period was scoreless, with Binghamton outshooting Port Huron 13-6. The Prowlers opened the scoring at 4:33 of the second period when Jamie Bucell scored, assisted by Alex Johnson. The Black Bears answered at 17:39 when Chance Gorman converted on the power play, with Sam Dabrowski and CJ Stubbs recording the assists to tie the game at one. Neither team scored in the third period despite Binghamton holding a 10-8 advantage in shots. Port Huron's Austin Fetterly was called for slashing at 1:16 of overtime, but the Black Bears were unable to capitalize on the power play, sending the game to a shootout. After Alex Johnson and Reggie Milette missed for Port Huron and Gorman was unable to convert for Binghamton, Stubbs scored to give the Black Bears the advantage. Burke then stopped Fetterly to seal the 2-1 shootout victory, stopping all three Port Huron shooters in his professional debut. Binghamton finished with 32 shots on goal to Port Huron's 35. The Black Bears went 1-for-8 on the power play, while the Prowlers finished 0-for-4. Binghamton improved to 3-0-0 and remained atop the Atlantic Division, while Port Huron earned one point in its first two games of the season. |
