The reigning GOTY winner, Tmej returns for his second season with the Black Bears.

The Binghamton Black Bears have received some major news between the pipes, announcing today that Commissioner�s Cup Champion goaltender Dominik Tměj has re-signed with the team for the 2026-27 season. Tmej, who helped Binghamton capture its third consecutive Commissioner�s Cup Championship last season, will return for his second season with the Black Bears after initially signing with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the SPHL. Despite that opportunity, Tmej will instead return to Binghamton and is expected to report to Black Bears training camp at the end of September.

Tmej was nothing short of spectacular during the 2025-26 regular season. In 32 appearances, the netminder posted a 28-2-1 record, stopping 778 of 835 shots for a .932 save percentage and a 1.83 goals-against average. He also recorded seven shutouts, establishing himself as one of the league's dominant goaltenders. His 28 victories came while allowing just 57 goals over 1,870:53 of playing time, helping the Black Bears finish the regular season with a franchise-best 143 points and their second best franchise record of 48-6-2.

Tmej continued to be a key part of Binghamton's championship run in the postseason, appearing in nine games and finishing with a 7-2 record, 2.02 GAA and .915 save percentage, while making 194 saves on 212 shots. One of his biggest performances came in Game 1 of the Commissioner�s Cup Semifinals against the Port Huron Prowlers on April 23. With the Black Bears holding a razor-thin 1-0 lead, Tmej stopped all 27 shots he faced, including 12 in the third period, to preserve the shutout and give Binghamton a critical series-opening victory. The performance earned Tmej the game's First Star honors.

Now, after originally committing to Roanoke, Tmej's return gives the three-time defending champions a familiar and proven presence in net heading into the 2026-27 season. His return also reunites the Black Bears with the goaltender who played a major role in their historic third straight championship, as Binghamton prepares to raise its third consecutive Commissioner�s Cup banner on opening night, October 10, at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.
