The Binghamton Black Bears (2-0-0) defeated the Watertown Wolves (0-1-1) in the North Country of upstate New York by the score of 7-3 completing the weekend sweep of the Wolves. The Wolves Jake Shultz was tagged with a tripping call just 29 seconds into the game leading to a Mac Jansen power play goal just 54 seconds into the game. The Black Bears take a 2-0 lead at the 2:21 mark after Austin Thompson's 2nd goal of the season as he cleaned up a rebound shot by Mac Jansen. With Jesse Anderson in the penalty box for hooking, the Wolves score a power play goal off the stick of an undefended Steven Klinck who has now scored 3 goals against the Black Bears this weekend. Tying the game up at 2-2 for the Wolves with a Dylan Gutierrez that was reviewed by the referees but was called a good goal at the 10:49 mark of the 1st period. Defenseman, Camron Cervone scored the Black Bears first goal for a blue-liner to make this a Binghamton 3-2 lead with 6:28 left to go in the 1st. With only 17 seconds to go in the middle period, former Binghamton Black Bears forward, Darion Benchich scored on his former team getting the Wolves and the Black Bears tied at 3 before the 2nd intermission. With Jake Shultz again in the penalty box, the Black Bears pulled ahead of the Wolves once again with their 2nd power play goal of the game as CJ Stubbs was alone in the slot. The Black Bears then extend their lead at the 4:56 mark of the final period with Tim Kim's first professional goal making this a 5-3 Black Bears lead. Just over 5 minutes later at the 10:02 mark of the final period, Tim Kim scored his second goal of the season. The Black Bears lead grew at the 16:56 mark with Austin Thompson's 2nd goal of the game making this a 7-4 game. |
