MINI RECAP
The Binghamton Black Bears (15-2-0) defeated the Twin City Thunderbirds (4-10-0) on Saturday night in Binghamton in the first game of the season between the two finalists from the last two Commissioner's Cup Championship series. After the Black Bears dominate the first 7 minutes of the period, the Thunderbirds score the games first goal on their 2nd shot of the game, a rebound goal from Don Carter Jr, 8:04 into the 1st period. The Black Bears don't take long to tie the game back up with a CJ Stubbs even strength goal with 9:40 left to go in the period making this a 1-1 game. With Jesse Anderson in the penalty box for tripping, the Thunderbirds score their 2nd goal of the game off the stick of Jacob Schnapp who cleaned up a rebound in front of Connor McAnanama 2:05 into the middle frame. Just 3 minutes and 15 seconds later the Thunderbirds took a 3-1 lead with a James Farmer-Valente goal. The Black Bears then started a 3 goal scoring fest scoring in just 2 minutes and 6 seconds from Scott Ramaekers, then two power play goals from Austin D'Orazio and Gavin Yates which made this a 4-3 game. The Thunderbirds tied the game up at 4 with a power play goal from Jan Salak 8:57 into the second period. The Black Bears regain the lead 5:36 into the 3rd period with Jesse Anderson's first goal of the season making this a 5-4 game. The Black Bears defense tightens for the next 14:24 of the period and the Black Bears win their 6th game in a row improving to 15-2.
