The Binghamton Black Bears (9-2-0) lost to the Athens Rock Lobsters (9-0-0) at home in front of a sell-out crowd by the score of 5-3. The Rock Lobsters get on the score-board first after a disastrous turnover for the Black Bears in their own zone which led to Kayson Gallant scoring at the 15:04 mark of the 1st period. The Rock Lobsters added to their lead with another Kayson Gallant goal just 2:06 into the middle period making this a 2-0 lead for the team from the deep south. With just 3 seconds left in the period, the Rock Lobsters take a 3-0 lead off the stick of Eric Neilley. Luke Croucher scores the Rock Lobsters 4th goal of the game, scoring at the 4:37 mark of the 4rd period. The Black Bears get on the board with Ivan Bondarenko's 5th goal of the season at the 5:55 mark of the period breaking up Carter McPhail bid at a shut-out. The Rock Lobster make this a 5-1 lead after a short-handed empty-net goal for Michael Greco with 3:38 left to go in the game. The Black Bears get their 2nd goal of the game on the power play from Gavin Yates with 2:52 to go. Then the Black Bears get another goal, their 3rd from Dan Stone just 33 seconds after the the Yates goal but it wasn't enough and the Rock Lobsters take game 1 this weekend, 5-3. |
