| The Binghamton Black Bears (26-3-0) defeated the Twin City Thunderbirds (11-14-1) in Winston-Salem on Friday in a defensive battle, 3-1. The Black Bears get on the score-board first with Nick Swain's 10th goal of the season just 9:02 in the 1st period. Gehrett Sargis scored his 5th goal of the season at the 7:22 mark of the middle period to give the Black Bears a 2-0 lead. With Austin D'Orazio in the penalty box for slashing, Michael Kocsis scored the Thunderbirds first goal of the game and it was on the power play with nine minutes left to go in the period making this a 2-1 game. With Boris Babik pulled at the 18:10 mark and the Thunderbirds looking for the game tying goal, with 41 second left to go in the period, the puck landed on Dan Stone's stick and sent a laser to the empty-net securing a Black Bears 3-1 victory. |
