The Binghamton Black Bears (30-4-1) lost to the
Twin City Thunderbirds (14-17-1) on Friday night in
Binghamton after a Josh Labelle power play goal in overtime.
The Twin City Thunderbirds opened the scoring at the 10:09 mark of
the first period, as Josh Labelle found the back of
the net to give the Thunderbirds a 1–0 lead. The Black Bears
responded on the power play late in the period. With Corey
Cunningham in the penalty box for cross-checking,
Mac Jansen scored his 22nd goal of the season with 3:01
remaining in the first to tie the game at 1–1. The Black Bears took
the lead early in the second period, as Mac Jansen
scored his second goal of the game just 44 seconds in, finishing a
pass from CJ Stubbs and putting Binghamton ahead
2–1. The Thunderbirds answered on a 5-on-3 power play with 8:01
remaining in the period, as Zach White scored to tie the game at
2–2 while Gavin Yates and Emerson Emery
were in the penalty box for holding and slashing,
respectively. Twin City regained the lead later in the period, with
Roman Kraemer scoring at the 13:54 mark to make it
a 3–2 game. The Thunderbirds extended their lead midway through the
third period. With Camron Cervone serving a
roughing minor, Jan Salak scored a power-play goal
at the 12:43 mark to give Twin City a 4–2 advantage. The Black Bears
responded late, as CJ Stubbs scored with 4:32
remaining in the period to pull Binghamton within one. With
Wyatt Friedlander pulled for the extra attacker,
Ivan Bondarenko netted his ninth goal of the season to tie
the game at 4–4. In the overtime period, with Gavin Yates
in the penalty box for high-sticking, Josh Labelle scored the
game-winning power-play goal 3:08 into overtime, lifting the
Thunderbirds to a 5–4 victory. |
