MINI RECAP

The Binghamton Black Bears (30-3-0) defeated the Pee Dee IceCats (11-17-3) on Friday night, doubling up the IceCats, 6-3.  Pee Dee struck first at 3:54 of the opening period as Dominiks Marcinkevics put the IceCats in front 1–0. Binghamton tied the game 11 seconds into the second period when Ivan Bondarenko scored his eighth goal of the season to make it 1–1. Pee Dee regained the lead at 4:23 on a goal from Houston Wilson. The Black Bears pulled even again at 8:48 when Jacob Shankar, returning from injured reserve, converted a feed from Kyle Stephan to make it 2–2. Binghamton took its first lead of the night with 2:14 remaining in the period as Scott Ramaekers scored his seventh of the season. Pee Dee answered before intermission, with Dominiks Marcinkevics recording his second goal of the game to tie the score 3–3 with 55 seconds left in the period. Binghamton went back in front on the power play with 9:57 remaining in the third period as Mac Jansen scored with Timur Rasulov serving a hooking minor. The Black Bears added another power-play goal with 4:53 left when defenseman Dan Stone scored his fifth goal of the season after Matthew Gilbert was penalized for slashing. With Pee Dee goaltender Parker Rutherford pulled for an extra attacker, C.J. Stubbs sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the final 32 seconds to make it 6–3. The win improves Binghamton to 30-3-0 (88 points), while Pee Dee drops to 11-17-3. The teams meet again Saturday night in Binghamton.
