| The Binghamton Black Bears (16-2-0) defeated the Port Huron Prowlers (4-10-0) in a lop-sided 9-1 game at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday night. The Black Bears get on the score sheet first with a Gavin Yates rebound goal after Nick Swain took a nice shot that the Prowlers net-minder Reid Cooper put right on the stick of Yates just 2:12 into the first period. The Black Bears made it 2-0 nothing after a CJ Stubbs goal just 1 minute and 39 seconds later. Gavin Yates scored his 2nd goal of the game 9:28 into the 1st period after coming all the way into the zone, throwing a deke around a Prowler defenseman before going five hole past Reid Cooper to make this a 3-0 game. The second period starts with a Port Huron goal, 4:33 into the period Luke James scored to make it a 3-1 game. With Matt Graham in the penalty box for hooking, only the games 3rd penalty and the Black Bears first power play opportunity, Austin D'Orazio scores his 8th goal of the season and his 5th man-up goal. Gavin Yates scored his hat trick goal at the 8:23 mark of the middle period, the Black Bears 4th hat trick of the season and his 3rd as a Black Bear. With Dan Wieber in the penalty box for tripping, the Black Bears scored their third short-handed goal of the season, scored by CJ Stubbs with 1:43 left to go in the period to make this a 6-1 game. Austin Thompson scored his 13th goal of the season, on the power play with Timothy Organ in the box for Roughing at the 3:41 mark of the 3rd period. Gavin's hot hand gave him a four goal game scoring his 4th goal just 5:02 in the 3rd period making this an 8-1 lead for the Black Bears. Zac Sirota got into the party with the Black Bears 9th goal on the power play with the Prowlers Nicholas Favaro in the box for holding, giving the Black Bears a 9-1 victory the 2nd place Prowlers. |
