Black Bears (2-1-0) defeated the Hudson Valley
Venom (0-1-0) in a wild goal filled game in Hudson Valley
by the score of 9-6. The Binghamton Black Bears got on the
scoresheet first and quickly as Tyson Kirkby on a
new line combination with Cameron Clark and
Donald Olivieri, scores 1:31 into the game making it a 1-0
Black Bears lead. The Black Bears took a two goal lead after a
Gavin Yates shot got past Venom's net-minder Eli
Bowers. Mark Pozar got the Venom's first every goal
9:38 into the game cutting the Black Bears lead to 1. Just 1 minute
25 seconds later the Black Bears went back up by 2 goals with
Gavin Yates 3rd goal of the season and 2nd of the
period. Donald Olivieri gave the Black Bears a 3
goal lead on the power play at the 14:31 mark. The Venom score twice
on the power play early due to two penalties by Kyle Stephan.
The first power play goal was scored by Eimantas Noreika
19 seconds into the 2nd period and then after Stephan went back into
the box for hooking, Brendan Charlton scored at 1:51 mark making
this a 1 goal game at 4-3. The Venom scored again early in the 2nd
period with Dustin Jesseau's 1st of the season just
5:17 into the 2nd period knotting this game up at 4. The Black Bears
get the lead back after an Austin Thompson goal,
his first of the season at the 10:07 mark. Just 54 seconds into the
third period, Thompson scores his second of the season and of the
game to put the Black Bears up by 2 goals. With Blake Tosto
in the box for slashing, the Venom get their 3rd power play goal of
the game, from Dustin Jesseau, his 2nd goal of the game to make this
a 6-5 game. Just a 1 minute and 4 seconds after the Jesseau goal,
Cameron Clark gets his 1st of the season at 5:46
mark, giving the Black Bears a 2 goal lead again at 7-5. Jesseau
scored his hat-trick at the 10:44 mark of the third to make it a 7-6
game. But then Thompson scored his hat-trick, not to be out done at
the 12:29 mark of the 3rd period to make this an 8-6 game. With
Jesseau in the penalty box for Slashing, The Don-father
Donald Olivieri scored his 2nd power play goal of the game
putting the Black Bears up by 3 goals. The Black Bears win the 15
goal affair 9-6. |
