Black Bears (7-1-1) defeared the Dashers Hockey Club (1-5-1)
in front of a sell-out crowd of 4,893 at the Visions Veterans
Memorial Arena by the score of 6-4. With Lester Brown
serving a 2 minute warm-up penalty violation, the Black Bears got on
the score-sheet first with a power play goal from Scott
Ramaekers. On the Black Bears 2nd power play,
Austin Thompson scored a man up goal to give the Black
Bears a 2 goal lead with just 4:35 left to go in the first period.
With the Captain Tyson Kirkby in sin-bin for
roughing, the Dashers get a power play goal to get this game to with
in 1 off the stick of Lester Brown with just 36
seconds left to go in the period. With Jamie Bucell
in the box for roughing, the Dashers scored another power play goal
tying the game up at 2 goals a piece off the stick of Jacob
Gagnon at the 10:37 mark of the middle period. After the
Dashers power play goal, the Black Bears picked up the speed and
intensity which led to a Cameron Clark goal giving
the Black Bears a 3-2 lead with 6:25 left to go in the period. The
Black Bears buzzing got another goal before the end of the period
off the stick of the Captain Tyson Kirkby who
cleaned up a Scott Ramaekers shot off the Parker Rutherford save
with 2:14 left to go in the second period. With the two teams
skating four on four and the Black Bears pressuring, Kirkby scored
his second goal in a row just 51 seconds into the 3rd period. The
Dashers came up with a goal of their own by Nick Gullo
59 seconds later making this a 5-3 game. After an odd shot that went
underneath Black Bears net-minder Nolan Egbert, the
Dashers draw this game down to a 1 goal game off the stick of
Zachary DeMarce at 7:58 mark of the 3rd period.
Kirkby got the hat trick to make this a 6-4 win for the Black Bears. |
