MINI RECAP |
The Binghamton Black Bears (23-4-1) defeated the Motor City Rockers (11-14-2) in the shoot out, 5-4 to end the first have of the season. The Black Bears CJ Stubbs got tagged with a roughing call at the 4:10 mark of the 1st period leading to a Mathias Tellstrom power play goal just 25 seconds later giving the Rockers a 1-0 lead. With Theodore Rowell in the penalty box and the Black Bears on the power play, Eli Rivers was able to score a short-handed goal to put the Rockers up 2-0. However on the same power play, Tyson Kirkby scored the Black Bears first goal of the game at the 2:23 mark of the 2nd period. While Sotirios Karageorgos was in the box for Tripping, the Black Bears got their 2nd power play goal of the game when Gavin Yates sent a pass over to an open CJ Stubbs who scored a goal in each of his last 4 games. Scoring in his 2nd straight game, defenseman Jesse Anderson scored the Black Bears 3rd goal 51 seconds into the 3rd period giving the Black Bears their 1st lead of the game. The Rockers tie the game at 3 goals after a 2 on 1 play led to a Tim Delaney tally at the 7:53 mark of the 3rd period. Late in the period, Chris Mott gave the Black Bears their 2nd lead of the game off a beautiful snipe from the first year rookie with 4:23 left to go in the period. In the overtime period, the Black Bears started on the power play and had a lot of chances but Ricardo Gonzalez was good and it would take the shoot out. The Black Bears got two shoot out goals from Scott Ramaekers and CJ Stubbs while Nolan Egbert only saw two shooters and stopped them both for the 5-4 victory. |
