MINI RECAP
The Binghamton Black Bears (36-4-1) defeated the Motor City Rockers (13-24-2) on Saturday night in Binghamton in front of a sell-out crowd winning their 15th game in a row. The Rockers took an early lead in the game with Avery Smith getting a goal past Connor McAnanama just 1:46 into the opening period. The Black Bears suffer from another defensive zone turn over as the Rockers score their second goal of the period off the stick of Yegor Kabatayev at the 9:25 mark. Gavin Yates then cut the lead in half with a goal at the 11:16 mark of the first, putting his 15th goal of the season past the Rockers Trevor Babin. With Cody Oakes in the penalty box for hooking Zac Sirota, the Black Bears 2nd power play unit scored a Black Bears power goal off the stick of CJ Stubbs tying the game at the 10:09 mark of the second period. The Black Bears take their first lead of the game with 3:18 left to go in the middle period as CJ Stubbs scored his 2nd goal of the game putting the Black Bears up 3-2. Josh Fletcher then makes it a 4-2 game with his 4th goal of the season with just 2:04 left to go in the period. The Black Bears after killing two early penalties in the final period get their 5th goal 8:18 into the final 20 minutes off the stick of Donald Olivieri. Chris Mott scored his 9th goal of the season putting this game out of reach at 6-2 with 6:29 left to go in the game. Austin Thompson added to the rout with a goal 4:48 left to go in the game making this a 7-2 lead for the Black Bears. The Rockers started and ended the scoring with their 3rd goal of the game scored on the power play by Josh Colten with 2:47 left to go in the period.
