| The Binghamton Black Bears (35-4-1) defeated the Motor City Rockers (13-23-2) on Friday night in BInghamton by the score of 5-2. The Black Bears got on the score sheet first after a tip in goal from Chris Mott 9:14 into the opening period. Just 3:41 into the middle period, Dan Stone buries the Black Bears second goal of the game while shooting from the high slot giving the home team a 2-0 lead. Austin Thompson made this a 3-0 game with the third attempt in a sequence of shots on Trevor Babin and the third shot got past the Rockers net-minder. The Black Bears scored their 3rd goal in the period, this time on the power play as the Captain Tyson Kirkby scored from a high risk area to the side of Babin. The 3rd period did not start as the Black Bears would have hoped with Eli Rivers scoring an unassisted goal just 19 seconds into the final period. The Black Bears get their 4 goal lead back with a goal from Gavin Yates who scored at the 4:50 mark of the third period. The Rockers get their 2nd goal of the game with 6:22 left to go in the 3rd period off the stick of Nicholas Magill-Diaz. The Black Bears win the game 5-2 securing their 35th win of the season and 14th in a row. |
