| The Binghamton Black Bears (34-4-1) defeated the HC Venom (7-22-3) on a snowy Saturday night in Binghamton by the score of 11-5. The Black Bears were gifted a power play as the Venom were tagged with a Pre-Game Warm Up Violation penalty which led to a CJ Stubbs power play goal at the 1:24 mark of the opening period. Donald Olivieri gave the Black Bears a two goal lead just 16 seconds later after a great feed from the Captain. Tyson Kirby then scored the Black Bears third goal of the game at 7:46 mark of the first period. Continuing the Black Bears hot first period Austin Thompson scored at the 14:22 mark giving the Black Bears a four nothing lead. With the Venom pressuring in the Black Bears defensive zone, a rare turn over led to Danila Belov goal, scoring the Venom's first goal of the game making this a 4-1 lead for the Black Bears with 2:06 left to go in the period. With 11 seconds to go in the 1st period the Black Bears take another 4 goal lead with Zac Sirota's 9th goal of the season. The Venom strike first in the second period with a goal from Ivan Ponivanov at the 1:06 mark making this at a 5-2 game. With CJ Stubbs and Tyson Kirkby in the penalty box, the Venom score a 5 on 3 power play goal off the stick of Connor Craig making this a 2 goal game at 5-3. Dakota Bohn changed the momentum of the game with a goal 10:37 into the middle frame giving the Black Bears a 3 goal lead again at 6-3. Scott Ramaekers got on the score-sheet with a goal at the 12:34 mark to make this a 7-3 game. The Black Bears scored a 5 on 3 power play goal at the 16:48 mark off the stick of Dakota Bohn giving the Black Bears a 5 goal lead. Austin Thompson scored the Black Bears 9th goal of the game as well as the 3rd power play goal of the game just 34 seconds into the 3rd period. The Black Bears hit double digits with a tally from Chris Mott just 5:29 into the final period making this a 10-3 game. CJ Stubbs scored his second goal of the game 8:26 into the third period giving the Black Bears an 11-3 lead matching an earlier season game high of 11 tallies in a game. The Venom get another goal back at the 13:41 mark, off the stick of Ricards Jelenskis. The games last goal came from the Venom scoring their 5th goal from Ivan Ponivanov scoring his 2nd of the game. |
