| The Binghamton Black Bears (47-6-1) defeated the Athens Rock Lobsters (42-9-3) down in Athens, Georgia by the score of 4-1. The Black Bears score the games first goal early with a Gavin Yates shot beating William Lavalliere on the second shot of the game giving the visiting team a 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the game. With the Captain, Tyson Kirkby in the penalty box for slashing, Austin Thompson stole the puck from the Rock Lobsters in the neutral zone and sent a beautiful pass to Blake Tosto who scored after sending his own rebound shot past the Rock Lobsters net-minder Lavalliere with 36 seconds left to go in the period. The Rock Lobsters responded in the 2nd period after a Dan Wieber penalty expired with a goal from Garrett Milan at the 3:16 mark of the period making this a 2-1 Black Bears lead. Late in the final period with 2:36 left to go, Austin Thompson scores his 35th goal of the season giving the Black Bears a 3-1 lead. Then just 52 seconds later Thompson scored his 2nd goal of the game, an empty netter putting the Black Bears up 4-1. |
