| The Binghamton Black Bears (2-0-2) lost in overtime to the Elmira River Sharks (2-1-0) in Elmira by the score of 4-3 The River Sharks take a bite out of the Black Bears first after Noah Robinson and Jestin Somero drop the gloves at the 19:18 mark of the 1st, as Elijah Wilson scores during a tic tac toe play to put Elmira up 1-0 just 31 seconds after the fight. After 1 period of play, the Black Bears led in shots, 13-7 but were down by 1. 2:51 into the 2nd period, former Black Bear, Bret Parker setup Cooper Bowman giving the River Sharks a 2-0 lead. Andrew Logar is awarded a Penalty Shot at the 8:33 mark of the 2nd period, but is stopped by the Elmira net-minder. With 7:53 to go in the 2nd period, the Black Bears get their first goal of the night of an Austin Thompson slap shot to make it a 2-1 game. The Black Bears get their first power play goal of the season as Dustin Jesseau scored his 2nd goal of the season, tying this game up at 2 a piece just 1 minute into the 3rd period. At the 4:07 mark of the 3rd, Binghamton's Tyson Kirkby thought he scored the Black Bears 3rd goal but it was waved off due to a high stick. After Andrew Logar was boarded by Lucchesi, the Elmira River Sharks scored a short-handed goal off the stick of Martin Moucha to take a 3-2 lead. Then the Black Bears scored their 2nd power play goal of the game as Nikita Ivashkin scored his first goal of the season at the 16:23 mark of the 3rd. It didn't take long in overtime as the Captain of the River Sharks, Starvos Soilis drove deep into the Binghamton zone and sent a shot past net-minder Nolan Egbert to win the game. Binghamton will turn around Friday and host the Watertown Wolves at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. |
