MINI RECAP
The Binghamton Black Bears (2-0) defeated the Carolina Thunderbirds (0-2) in game 2 of the FPHL's Finals in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by the score of 4-3 increasing their lead in the series to 2-0. The Black Bears take the early lead as a Gavin Yates shot tips in 1:25 into the 1st period. Jiri Pestuka scores on a 4 on 2 rush for the Thunderbirds as the pass came from an east to west passing sequence, tying the game up 3:33 into the 1st period. Tyson Kirkby scored his first goal of the playoffs to break the tie 8:50 into the first. With the Thunderbirds Dawson Baker in the penalty box for slashing, Yates scored his 2nd goal of the period, a power goal at 11:14 mark of the first. The Thunderbirds get the first goal in the 2nd period from their 'Cezch' line as Jan Salak scores after a good shift by the line at the 11:08 mark, reducing the Black Bears lead to just 3-2. The Black Bears score first in the 3rd period, as Tyson Kirkby scored a power play goal at the 12:57 mark with the Thunderbirds Jacob Schnapp in the penalty box for interference. Just 10 seconds after pulling Cody Karpinski for an extra attacker and Josh Koepplinger scores the man up goal to make this a 4-3 with 4:32 left to go in the 3rd period. The Black Bears win 4-3 and take a 2 game lead in the best of 5 series and have a chance to close out the series and win the champioship on home ice next Friday in Binghamton.
