The Binghamton Black Bears (32-5-1) shutout the
Indiana Sentinels (8-22-4) for the second consecutive night by the
score of 5-0. Binghamton opened the scoring midway through the first
period, capitalizing on a Sentinels penalty. With Indiana’s Romeo
Torain serving a high-sticking minor, Scott Ramaekers
scored the game’s first goal on the power play at the 13:46 mark.
Kyle Stephan and Nick Swain picked up assists on
the play, giving the Black Bears a 1–0 lead they carried through the
opening frame. Indiana was whistled for multiple penalties in the period,
sending Binghamton to the power play several times, while the Black Bears
made the most of their opportunity late in the period. The Black Bears
added to their lead early in the second period, as Jacob Shankar
scored his third goal of the season just 3:12 into the middle frame to give
Binghamton a 2–0 advantage. Emerson Emery and Dan
Wieber earned assists on the goal. Both teams traded penalties as
the period progressed, with Binghamton and Indiana each seeing time
shorthanded. Despite the special teams activity, neither side added to the
scoring for the remainder of the period. Through 40 minutes of play,
Binghamton controlled the shot totals, holding a 34–9 advantage over
Indiana. Binghamton put the game out of reach early in the third period,
extending its lead to 3–0 just 3:33 into the final frame when Dan
Stone scored his sixth goal of the season. CJ Stubbs
recorded the lone assist on the play. The Black Bears continued to add on,
as Jacob Shankar scored his second goal of the game at the
4:46 mark, finishing a play set up by Nick Swain and
Emerson Emery to make it 4–0. Mac Jansen
closed out the scoring midway through the period, netting his 25th goal of
the season with 8:49 remaining. Scott Ramaekers and
Ivan Bondarenko assisted on the goal, giving Binghamton a 5–0
advantage. No penalties were assessed in the third period.
