MINI RECAP

The Binghamton Black Bears (32-5-1) shutout the Indiana Sentinels (8-22-4) for the second consecutive night by the score of 5-0.  Binghamton opened the scoring midway through the first period, capitalizing on a Sentinels penalty. With Indiana’s Romeo Torain serving a high-sticking minor, Scott Ramaekers scored the game’s first goal on the power play at the 13:46 mark. Kyle Stephan and Nick Swain picked up assists on the play, giving the Black Bears a 1–0 lead they carried through the opening frame. Indiana was whistled for multiple penalties in the period, sending Binghamton to the power play several times, while the Black Bears made the most of their opportunity late in the period. The Black Bears added to their lead early in the second period, as Jacob Shankar scored his third goal of the season just 3:12 into the middle frame to give Binghamton a 2–0 advantage. Emerson Emery and Dan Wieber earned assists on the goal. Both teams traded penalties as the period progressed, with Binghamton and Indiana each seeing time shorthanded. Despite the special teams activity, neither side added to the scoring for the remainder of the period. Through 40 minutes of play, Binghamton controlled the shot totals, holding a 34–9 advantage over Indiana.
