Larry Kish, coached several teams in Binghamton from 1975-1982 including the Broome County Dusters (NAHL), Broome Dusters (AHL), Binghamton Barons (NY-Penn), and the Binghamton Whalers (AHL). Kish's most successful season came in 1981-82 where he helped lead the Binghamton Whalers to the Calder Cup Final, in an eventual loss to the New Brunswick Hawks, four games to one. That season, Kish was awarded the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL's Coach of the Year.
