MINI RECAP
The Binghamton Black Bears (2-0-1) defeated the Danbury Hat Tricks (2-2-0) at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in front of 3,172 fans by the score of 3-1. Black Bears Captain, Tyson Kirkby opened the scoring at the 7:48 mark getting a feed from Mac Lewis, putting the Black Bears up 1-0. With Mathieu Boislard in the box for a high-stick, the Black Bears penalty kill was inpressive and net-minder Sam LeVecchi had his best glove save of the period to keep the Black Bears leading by 1 at the end of 1 period. After a lot of sustained pressure in the 2nd period, the 'Cowboy' Connor Smith fired a slap shot from outside the point and passed Connor McCollum to put the Black Bears up by 2. 2:03 later while a man down, the Hat Tricks got on the board with a short-handed goal from Bohdan Zinchenko. 7:43 into the 3rd, Hat Tricks Jim Jensen was caught for a spearing penalty, a double minor that netted the Black Bears nothing but a few shots as the Black Bears power play was non exsistent. With 7:06 to go after a a densive breakdown for the Hat TRicks, Andrew Logar stole the puck and put the 3rd Black Bears goal behind Connor McCollum. With 3:30 left in the 3rd, Danbury pulled goal-tender Connor McCollum for the extra-attacker, however the Black Bears prevailed not allowing another goal. The Black Bears win in regualtion, 3-1 and take the lead in the Empire division.
