The B.C. Icemen were an ice hockey
team in the United Hockey League (UHL). They played in
Binghamton, New York, at the Broome County Veterans
Memorial Arena from 1997 to 2002. The Icemen won two
division championships in the 1998-99 and 1999-00 seasons
though losing in the first round of the playoffs both
seasons. The team also made the playoffs in their final
season but lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs to NY
State Rivals, the Elmira Jackals.
For the first
four seasons the Icemen were owned by local owners, Dave
Pace, Mark Palombo, and Patrick Snyder. They sold the team
to David Wright, a local auto proprietor whose intention
was to bring back the AHL to Binghamton. By the end of his
first season of ownership, Wright filed for bankruptcy and
another local ownership group secured an AHL franchise
that cemented the end of the B.C. Icemen.
