| The Binghamton Black Bears (6-0-3) defeated the Carolina Thunderbirds (4-2-0) in front of 4,187 fans at the arena by the score of 4-2. Early in the opening period Tucker Firth put the Thunderbirds up 1-0 as Binghamton net-minder Nolan Egbert was out of position and Firth was able to get an easy goal on the Black Bears. Immediately after that goal, the two teams got real fiesty with each other. The rest of the period ended up being a little more quiet with no more goals then the one being scored. Binghamton led in the shot category but went to the locker-room down 1-0. Very similar to the 1st period, however in favor of the Black Bears, Gavin Yates scores on the power play to tie this game up at 1 goal a piece. The Thunderbirds took the lead back as Kessler Skye was left un-defended and scored stick side high on Nolan Egbert. The 3rd period belonged to the Black Bears with 3 goals in the last period off the sticks of Austin Thompson at the 5:22 mark, the game winning goal from Brenden Stanko 15:42 into the 3rd and then an empty netter from Nikita Ivashkin with 40 seconds left to go to seal the deal. |
