| The Binghamton Black Bears (18-2-5) defeated the Motor City Rockers (14-6-4) in grand fashion by the score of 8-1 inside of the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. With Connor Smith in the penalty box for hooking early in the 1st period led to a very quick power play goal for Josh Colten giving the Motor City Rockers a 1-0 lead. However in less than a minute, Nikita Ivashkin scored his 15th of the season for the Black Bears making this a 1-1 game. Jake Shultz gets his first of the season as he walks into the zone with no one around him and he takes the shot beating Ricardo Gonzalez taking the 2-1 lead. The Black Bears finish the 1st period with 22 shots to the Rockers 9 and have the 2-1 lead. Tyson Kirkby and Gavin Yates moving north to south and passing east to west saw Yates pass to Kirkby with his shot moving past Gonzalez to make this a 3-1 game from the Black Bears. The Black Bears took a 3 goal lead after an Andrew Logar power play goal at the 14:08 mark as George Holt was tagged for a tripping call. Connor Smith got on the score sheet with a minute and 2 seconds left in the period to get the game to 5-1. The Rockers TJ Sneath was then tagged with a 5 Minute Match penalty for spearing which then led to Dakota Bohn scoring the Black Bears 6th goal of the game just 13 seconds until the end of the period. It took until 13:44 mark in the 3rd with Tristen Wells in penalty box for a hooking call before the Black Bears scored their 3rd power play goal of the game and his first power play goal of the season for Jake Shultz. Connor Smith puts an exclamation point on the game scoring his 2nd goal of the game with a 1 minute and 2 seconds left to go. The Black Bears win the first meeting of the season 8-1 over the Rockers. |
