| The Binghamton Black Bears (17-2-3) defeated the Elmira River Sharks (6-12-0) in Elmira by the score of 7-3. Just 2:48 into the game, the 3rd line pulls through for the Black Bears as Jestin Somero sent the puck to Andrew Logar who went around Elmira net-minder Sammy Bernard and scored the 1st goal of the game. At the 13:46 mark of the 3rd with Elijah Wilson in for a hooking call on Jesse Anderson, Tyson Kirkby won a faceoff, sent it to Donald Olivieri who set up Dakota Bohn who then scored his 5th goal of the season making this a 2-0 game. With Nikita Ivashkin and Donald Olivieri both in the box and Elmira on a 2:00 5 on 3 power play, the Black Bears killed the 5 on 3 for 1:53 which is when the River Sharks were tagged with a penalty. The period ends with the Black Bears still up 2-0, the 2nd period will start with a 4 on 4 with Pickford and Ivashkin still in the box. After some poor defensive and puck handling play, the River Sharks get on the board at the 2:24 mark of the 2nd period as Davide Gaeta gets the puck past Nolan Egbert to cut the lead down to 2-1 Black Bears. After Blake Peavey was thrown into the box for a hooking call, the River Sharks had a defender hit the puck into the net scoring the goal and Dakota Bohn was credited with the power play goal, his 2nd of the game. The Black Bears then scored with 2:09 left to go in the 2nd period as Thomas Wray scored on a feed from Connor Smith. 1:28 into the 3rd, Connor Smith took a shot, but Nikita Ivashkin tipped in the puck to score his 12th goal of the season and 103rd of his career. With Jesse Swanson in the penalty box for tripping, the hot stick of Andrew Logar scored his 2nd of the game, this time the Black Bears 3rd power play goal. After a mis played rebound by Nolan Egbert at the 8:04 mark of the 3rd, Elmira's Elijah Wilson scored to make it a 6-2 game. Elmira's Steven Klinck scored with 6:31 left in the 3rd to make this a 6-3 game, the 2nd consecutive goal for Elmira in the 3rd period. To finish out the scoring on the night, Ivashkin scored a power play, empty net goal to make this a 7-3 game. |
