Three-time Commissioner’s Cup Champion becomes the fifth member of last season’s championship roster to re-sign
Anderson becomes the fifth returning player from last season’s championship team to officially re-sign with Binghamton, joining CJ Stubbs, Ivan Bondarenko, Cheechoo Lathlin and Zac Sirota. The veteran defenseman has become one of Head Coach Brant Sherwood’s most trusted players and a key member of the Black Bears’ leadership group. Anderson has worn an “A” on his jersey for the past three seasons, providing a steady presence both on and off the ice. Anderson enters the 2026-27 season ranked third in franchise history in regular-season games played, having appeared in 183 games for Binghamton. Only Gavin Yates, with 200 games, and Tyson Kirkby, with 198, have played more regular-season games in Black Bears history. He is also tied with Austin Thompson for third place all-time in franchise assists, with 108. In his four seasons in Binghamton, Anderson has recorded 38 goals and 108 assists for 146 points, while accumulating 246 penalty minutes and a plus-97 rating. A Complete Two-Way Defenseman Anderson has developed into much more than a stay-at-home defenseman during his time in Binghamton. He is known for his ability to move the puck efficiently out of the defensive zone and transport it up the ice, making him an important part of the Black Bears' transition game. He has also shown a willingness to drop the gloves when necessary, while possessing the ability to step into the offensive zone and score a timely goal. That combination of physicality, offensive ability and puck-moving skills has made Anderson one of the most reliable blue-liners in the Black Bears organization. His Binghamton career got off to a memorable start. In his very first game with the Black Bears on October 14, 2022, Anderson scored twice in a 10-1 victory over the Elmira Mammoth. Those two goals would be the first of 38 regular-season goals he has scored with Binghamton. Anderson has also been a contributor during the Black Bears' championship runs, appearing in 29 playoff games and recording three goals and eight assists for 11 points. With Anderson returning, Binghamton brings back another important piece of the core that captured the organization's third consecutive Commissioner's Cup Championship last season.
