The Binghamton Black Bears announced today that they have extended their lease agreement with Broome County for an additional three seasons, ensuring that professional hockey will continue to call Visions Veterans Memorial Arena home through the 2029-30 Federal Prospects Hockey League season. The three-year extension will begin following the conclusion of the upcoming 2026-27 season, giving the Black Bears and the arena a long-term commitment that will carry the franchise through its ninth season in Binghamton. The agreement represents another important step in establishing the Black Bears as a long-term part of the Southern Tier sports landscape. This marks the second extension to the Black Bears' original lease agreement, demonstrating the continued commitment between the franchise, Visions Veterans Memorial Arena and Broome County to keeping professional hockey in Binghamton. With the Black Bears preparing to enter their sixth season, the organization has quickly established itself as one of the area's premier professional sports franchises. The announcement was made during a press conference on Monday at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena, with several key figures from the community and organization in attendance. Black Bears Owner Andreas Johansson, Binghamton Mayor Jared M. Kraham, Arena Manager Chris Marion, and Broome County Executive Jason Garnar were on hand for the announcement. For the Black Bears, the lease extension comes as the organization prepares to begin the 2026-27 season as the three-time defending Commissioner’s Cup Champions. Binghamton has captured three consecutive FPHL championships, building a championship culture while continuing to grow its presence throughout the community.
