| The Binghamton Black Bears (3-0) defeated the Carolina Thunderbirds (0-3) in game 3 of the Commissioner's Cup Finals by the score of 4-3. The Thunderbirds get on the score sheet first just 5:29 into the 1st period as Dawson Baker sent a pass over to Gus Ford who was all alone in the slot sending his shot past Black Bears net-minder, Connor McAnanama. Gus Ford, wide open again put the Thunderbirds up by 2 goals at the 10:27 mark of the 1st period. The Don of Binghamton, Donald Olivieri scored the Black Bears first goal of the game with 1:59 left in the period to cut the Thunderbirds lead in half. Mathieu Boislard scored in the 2nd period at the 10: 19 to tie the game up as the momentum started to shift to the Black Bears. The Black Bears continued the scoring into the 3rd period first at the 7:34 mark of the 3rd period on the power play with a goal from Gavin Yates. Austin Thompson scored an empty net goal with 2:34 left to go in the 3rd period. The Thunderbirds were not done as they got a power play opportunity and they cashed in with a power play, extra attacker goal from Roman Kraemer with a 1:41 left in the game making this a 4-3 game. The Black Bears then held off the Thunderbirds to win the Commissioner's Cup Championship, 3 games to none. |
