The Federal Prospects Hockey League announced today the schedule for the 2022-2023 season which includes three new teams to the league; the Elmira Mammoth, the Motor City Rockers and the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Like the other 9 teams in the league, the Binghamton Black Bears will play a 56 game season, 28 at home and 28 on the road.

Black Bears Home Opener is October 14th vs Elmira
The Black Bears will play the Elmira Mammoth, as expected the most games against anyone team in the league, 10 times. Interestingly the Black Bears will only see the Mammoth 3 times at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena but will travel to First Arena in Elmira 7 times. The two teams will start the season off in Binghamton on Friday, October 14th and then will travel to Elmira for the Mammoth’s home opener on Saturday, October 15th.

Last season the Black Bears played the Watertown Wolves 15 times in the regular season but will only play the Wolves 8 teams this season hosting them 6 times. New to the schedule other than the Mammoth this season are the Mississippi Sea Wolves in which the Black Bears will play 3 times (2 Home – 1 away) and the Motor City Rockers which the Black Bears will see 4 times (2 home – 2 away).

The Black Bears will see the Danbury Hat Tricks on the day before Thanksgiving, November 23rd as well as the Watertown Wolves on New Year’s Eve in two of the traditional games of the season at the Arena. Binghamton and Elmira will end the season the way it started with the final two games being a home and home series on April 14th, 2023 in Elmira and April 15th in Binghamton.

This season the Black Bears will play 53 of 56 games on Fridays and Saturdays. On Fridays, the Black Bears will play 13 games at home and 14 games on the road whereas Saturdays are an even split of 13 games at home and on the road. This leaves just 3 games to be played on other days, 2 on Wednesday and a home game on Sunday, February 26th vs. Carolina to complete the only 3 games in 3 nights of the season.
