BINGHAMTON - Kyle Powell tied the game and Tyler Gjurich scored the game winner as the Binghamton Black Bears came back to defeat the Delaware Thunder on Saturday night, 5-4.

Binghamton got on the board just 3:50 into the game as Gavin Yates deked out goaltender Trevor Babin for a 1-0 lead. On a partial breakaway, Yates slid the puck through the legs of Babin with the lone assist going to Mo Levac.

Justin LaPorte tied the game 1-1 on the power play. Joe Sheppard made the original save but LaPorte fired in the rebound. The goal came 12:39 into the game with assists from Ryan Marker and Marc-Antoine Brouillette.

Ryan Marker scored the next three goals for Delaware to complete a first-period hat trick. Marker's goals came at 17:31 on the power play, 18:21 even strength, and 19:01 also on the power play. Delaware took a 4-1 lead into the first intermission.

Emil Strom pulled the Black Bears within two goals just 2:04 into the second frame. Strom beat goaltender Trevor Babin for his eighth goal of the year to split Binghamton's deficit in half, 4-2.

Gavin Yates struck again on the power play and Binghamton trailed by one goal. Tyler Gjurich set up Yates who beat Babin for his second of the game. The goal came 4:19 into the second period with assists from Tyler Gjurich and Kyle Powell. The Black Bears trailed 4-3 to start the third period.

Binghamton tied the game at four in the third period. Mo Levac set up Kyle Powell who fired a wrist shot by Trevor Babin from inside the left circle. The goal tied the game 4-4 with assists from Levac and Gavin Yates at 9:19 of the third.

Tyler Gjurich scored the game-winning goal later in the third period on the power play. Gjurich took a pass and ripped a slap shot into the net for his 33rd goal of year and a 5-4 lead. The lone assist came off the stick of Kyle Powell and the Black Bears held on for the one-goal victory.

Joe Sheppard stopped 24 shots in the victory.

The Black Bears are back home next Saturday, March 5 for Sock Out Cancer Night presented by Security Mutual against Watertown at 7 p.m. The Black Bears will be wearing the special Sock Out Cancer hockey socks during the game and fans have several ways on the concourse to help raise money for Sock Out Cancer.
