| The Binghamton Black Bears (11-1-3) defeated the Elmira River Sharks (3-8-0) at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on Teddy Bear Toss Night by the score of 6-4. The Black Bears started off the scoring late in the 1st period but took a 2 goal lead with goals from a returning Connor Smith at the 14:47 mark and then 2 minutes and 2 seconds later from the Captain Tyson Kirkby. The Connor Smith goal was then proceeded by fans throughing teddy bears and stuffed animals on the ice for the annual teddy bears throw. The Black Bears quickly scored on the power play 20 seconds into the 2nd period as Thomas Wray shot a puck passed Brandon Collett who was making his first start for the River Sharks. The Black Bears got into some penalty trouble in the 2nd period and the River Sharks took advantage as Frank Trazzera and Elijah Wilson both scored on the power play to make it a 3-2 game. Then Trazzera scored his 2nd of the night, the game tying goal when he scored an even strength goal with 8:34 left to go in the 2nd period. With Blake Peavey in the box for a delay of game call, Dakota Bohn score his first goal, a power play goal to put the Black Bears up 4-3. Connor Smith scored his 2nd of the game 9:32 into the 3rd period putting the Black Bears up by 2 goals. Steven Klinck with Collett pulled for an extra attacker beat Sam LiVecchi for the River Sharks 4th goal, however with Dan Wieber in the penalty box for a Delay of Game penalty, Josh Fletcher scored an empty net, short handed goal to finalize this game, a win 6-4 improving the Black Bears to 11-1-3. |
