Saltarelli Signs With Blackhawks

June 8, 2000

Press & Sun Bulletin

Erasmo Saltarelli, the BC Icemen’s backup goalie for much of last season before receiving a fulltime-starting role in the playoffs, was signed Wednesday by the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks.

Saltarelli, 26, was 16-9-4 with 9.18 goal-against average and .903 save percentage as backup to Dieter Kochan. Saltarelli was 2-4 with a 3.00 GAA and .914 save percentage in the playoffs.

Saltarelli was under contract last season to the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.

Icemen general manager Patrick Snyder, who confirmed the signing, said he was unaware of the length or terms of Saltarelli’s contract.
