Trees
stood a little bit taller.
That’s
probably why Binghamton Rangers goalie Mark “Trees” Laforest was
selected as the Binghamton Rangers’ Most Valuable Player by his
teammates and presented the award after Sunday night’s game with
Baltimore.
Laforest
had a 25-14-2 record, 3.16 goals against average and .902 save
percentage for the Rangers this season. He was one half of the Rangers’ talented goaltending
tandem. The other was
Sam St. Laurent, who received the Rangers’ Booster Club Board of
Directors award for outstanding play.
Laforest
also received the Roto Rooter Star of the game award for being the
Rangers’ player most often chosen as a star of the game at home
and on the road. St.
Laurent took a similar honor for the home games.
Captain
Joe Paterson received a number of awards.
Included were the Booster Club’s MVP award; the team’s
President’s award for all around performance on and off the ice;
and the March of Dimes Community Service Award.
Defenseman
Jeff Bloemberg received the Sportsmanship Award, and center Brian
McReynolds was given the Owners award for the forward that best
excels on defense.
Left
wing Daniel Lacroix was selected by teammates as the Paul Crowley/7th
Player award winner for bring an unsung hero.
To
no one’s surprise, longtime Binghamton hockey supporter Hans
Peterson was once again given the Super Fan award.
