May 2, 2025 - by Bob Howard - BinghamtonHockey.net The Finals are here! The Binghamton Black Bears are in Winston-Salem for last years Finals re-match against the Carolina Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds, who are in their third straight Cup Finals appearance are looking to win the Cup this season after failing the last two seasons to the Danbury Hat Tricks in 2022-23 and to the Black Bears in 2023-24. The Finals will feature two of the best forwards in single-A hockey with Gus Ford leading the way for the Thunderbirds and Tyson Kirkby leading the Black Bears the last two season to a Finals run as the Captain. The Finals also features arguably the best net-minders in the league with Mario Cavaliere and Connor McAnanama leading the league this season from wins, goals against and save percentage. In the only game of the season, the Black Bears got a 1-0 win in a playoff atmosphere game in Binghamton, NY. The Black Bears only goal was off the stick of Austin Thompson. Both McAnanama and Cavaliere were outstanding in the game.
