Last night there were several players that were being considered for the Impact Players with that being said I am going to do something I have not done and give a couple of honorable mentions. The first going to the Captain Tyson Kirkby who show cased exactly why he deserves to be Captain. Next is going to CJ Hapward for only allowing 1 goal saving 19 shots on goal and shutting out the Venom for 44 minutes. Lastly a shout out to Nicholas Swain who has shown amazing effort every time he is on the ice.

Now to get into our Impact Players our first player is going to Chris Mott who although was playing on the third line last night played like someone on the second line. Last night Mott showed that he had a lot of speed and the ability to maintain control of the puck. I truly believe he left it all out on the ice. He effortlessly went from having the puck on the left side making a pass and was immediately on the right side with puck it was like watching a magician's sleight of hand. He was great at keeping the puck in the zone and his style of play reminded me a lot of Gavin Yates. Mott is just another great example of when we have star players sitting out for a game these rookies really step up and show case their skills. Now I couldn't very well write about Mott without talking about the final goal of the game. Dakota Bohn would go out on a breakaway shorthanded with 10 seconds left skate the puck the distance right in front of Sharma and make the choice to send the puck back to Mott who would fire one in scoring his second goal of the night with 1 second left in the game. Mott sent the score into double digits and was one of the players to watch last night.

The next player has played in 55 of 56 games this season. He is the league leader in game winning goals with 9 and leads the team in goals with 39. If you compare his numbers from last year, he played in the same number of games but scored 10 more goals and assists. He is a prime example of hard work and dedication pays off. He racked in 4 points last night with 3 goals for a hat trick and an assist. Austin Thompson is the kind of player that if he is going to have a point in the game whether from a goal or an assist, he will more than likely have more than one. Thompson has an effortless way of scoring when he gets the puck, he shoots in a such a calm manner and easily finds the back of the net. If you have the time to go back and watch his goals you'll understand what I mean when I he does this effortlessly.

We had 59 shots on goal last night and I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony Bernardo had 20 of them. Bernardo played his 6th game and was on the first line with Kirkby and Thompson. This line created many scoring opportunities for Bernardo who was looking for his first goal as a Black Bear. The Black Bears would go on the power play 4:57 in the 3rd for a holding call against Pozsar and less than a minute later at 5:46 Bernardo finally got his first goal and it was a power play goal. We are fortunate enough to have so many players on our team that can easily be “goal scorers” and not have to rely on just a couple guys. One thing I have noticed about this team is if you pay attention a lot of the veteran players take the time to set up the rookies and the college players to try and get them goals. Bernardo absolutely crushed being on the first line tonight if he wasn’t taking shots on goals, he is screening the goalie to give someone else a chance. If Bernardo can fine tune his shots just a little bit, I think he will be racking in goals in no time.
