They aren’t kidding when they say a 3-goal lead is dangerous in hockey. Tyson Kirkby would prove that point twice. Not only did Kirkby break the Rock Lobsters 3 goal lead but he gave his team, and the fans hope that the Black Bears were still in this fight. The Lobsters would later answer that call and gain their 3-goal lead back allowing Kirkby to once again take that away from them. In the first period Kirkby also denied a back hander from Milan who leads the league in points. All 3 of our goals last night were power play goals. Kirkby scored 2 of those goals and got an assist on the 3rd. The Black Bears special teams stopped all 6 penalty kills from the Rock Lobsters last night which I believe Kirkby plays a huge role in. Our special teams shined through last night in with a big help from Kirkby. Last night Kirkby showed that we might be down, but you can't count us out.

A lot of you would probably say last night was not Connor McAnanama's best game however if you listened to The Power Play Post Show you would hear Bobby talk about just how good the Rock Lobsters players are and where they played previously like the ECHL and the SPHL. As Bobby pointed out really only 1 goal last night wasn’t a breakaway 2-1 goal. The first goal of the game was the only one that wasn’t a breakaway. Even the fourth goal McAnanama thought he had enough of the puck and thought he made the save. He still saved 26 shots on goal, and I think truthfully still played a solid game. The 2nd period was huge for the Rock Lobsters they were able to cash in on the Black Bears mistakes get breakaways to score goals. Overall McAnanama played a solid game against the best team in the continental division.

I was originally going to mention how Gavin Yates had 2 assists in last night's game however after the game one of his assists was changed so he did only have one on the night. Normally the impact players aren’t based on goals and assists but after last night I feel it was earned for this one. He may not have gotten 2 assists, but you still can’t deny his actions on ice with nicknames like Speedy and Shooter McGavin it’s not hard to see why. Yates is probably one of the fastest skaters in the FPHL. His ability to get the puck in the zone while dodging hits and poke checks almost flawlessly around the net to create not only shooting opportunities but rebound opportunities as well. It wouldn’t surprise me if Yates has the most shots on goal for any game. He brings a certain speed and finesse to the game that could be crucial for these kinds of games.
