The last time we saw Nolan Egbert in net was Sunday March 9th against the Bobcats after he had to come in for Connor McAnanama but watching last night's game you never would've guessed he hasn't played in 5 games. His playing style is a lot different from McAnanama in that he comes out of the crease quite a distance to play the puck and the first goal he allowed last night which didn't come until the 2nd period he followed the puck in front of the net and in the process, he got tangled up with Bohn which did result in Danbury scoring. Though it was unfortunate Egbert wasn't bothered by what happened he jumped up shook it off and got right back into the game. Later in the second Egbert has a windmill glove save denying a backhander. With less than 2 minutes left in the 2nd Egbert has a great poke check that ends with him on his back taking away any scoring opportunities Danbury thought they had. After that play Danbury had a 2-man advantage playing 5 on 3 Egbert glued himself post to post and with the help of Dan Stone ended the period stopping Danbury. Egbert showed why he is a crowd favorite with some huge saves stopping 32 of 34 shots.

Emerson Emery is another player who hasn't played in a while but as Bobby talks about in his after-game day report every single player on this team is valuable and can play different roles. Emery was playing on defense on the 3rd line last night, but he was able to switch up roles and play as a forward after coming out of the penalty box in the 3rd period. Emery had a good game last night, but the 3rd period is where he truly shined in my opinion. Almost 8 minutes into the 3rd you would see Emery park himself in the crease and block a shot denying Danbury a scoring opportunity and saving Egbert who was focused on the other side of the net. Emery showed his great defensive skills staying close to Egbert protecting both our net minder and net stopping the puck from getting to Egbert several times. Emery is a great example of you don't have to play every game to be important on this team.

Kyle Stephan has been on fire since returning from IR. Normally is he centering for Yates and Stubbs both of which were not playing in last night's game. Last night would see Stephan centering for Clark and Swain. Which is yet again another great example showing that these players, these lines are all interchangeable and can still produce numbers. Stephan scored the 2nd goal with the assist from Stone and Swain and then in the 2nd period Swain would get a goal with the assist from Clark and Stephan. He brings a level of physicality to the ice that isn't necessarily laying hits but more putting pressure on the opposing player trying to eliminate them gaining control of not only the puck but the game as well. He has truly been a welcomed sight to have back on the ice.
