March 29, 2025 - by Taylor Welch - BinghamtonHockey.net First up tonight is going to be Dan Wieber for finally getting Binghamton on the scoreboard. After a scoreless first period for both teams Danbury was quick to get on the board at the start of the 2nd period. However just one minute after Danbury's second goal you would see Wieber taking his time with the puck looking for the perfect shot to get one past McCollum. You could feel the energy change on the ice after that goal. One other noticeable move Wieber had in tonight's game was his play on the penalty kill. He had a great back check to take the puck away from Danbury and send it down ice to clear it. Wieber has grown a lot defensively and he is getting better game after game. Now I know he was the first star of the game, but Austin Thompson's plays to produce goals tonight showcases the kind of skill on this team. His first goal was not only the go-ahead goal giving Binghamton their first lead of the night, but it was also shorthanded and unassisted. On top of that he used Danbury's own player to screen the goalie and with a beautiful toe drag scored. If someone who knew nothing about the Binghamton Black Bears asked me what kind of skill this team has, I'd tell them to watch Thompson. In my opinion he is a player that can do it all. After a 2-game suspension Dakota Bohn is back on the ice and looks like he hasn't missed a single beat. His ability to keep pressure on players and not make it easy to get to our net minders is part of the reason I choose him for tonight's write up. Now this is where I am going to cheat a little bit watching tonight's game made me really see why Dakota Bohn and Dan Stone are such good teammates and why as a defensive pair, they are almost unstoppable tonight. They have each other's back on the ice. At one point Stone jumped to try to stop the puck with his hand and he missed but Bohn was there to get the puck, so Danbury didn't. Another notable time was when Stone had a Danbury player pinned against the boards so Bohn could swoop in and get the puck. I feel it is hard to write about one without mentioning the other, but Bohn just has an energy on the ice that catches your eye.
