MIKE BUSNIUK WILL RETURN TO BINGHAMTON IN 2004-05

OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager John Muckler announced today that Mike Busniuk will return as assistant coach with the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL).

“We’re very pleased to have Mike return to Binghamton and work with new head coach Dave Cameron,” said Muckler.

The 52-year old Busniuk, who spent four seasons (1993-97) as an assistant coach with the Binghamton Rangers, assisted John Paddock last season in Binghamton. He and Paddock also spent three seasons with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack.

As a player, Busniuk appeared in 143 NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers from 1979–1981. The Denver University graduate spent much of his career in the AHL winning Calder Cups. Busniuk won four Calder Cups as a player including 1 with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs (1977) and 3 with the Maine Mariners (1978, 1979, 1984). As an assistant coach he helped guide the Hartford Wolf Pack to a Calder Cup championship in 2000.

Before coming to Binghamton, Busniuk was the head coach of the Muskegon Fury on the United Hockey League. There he compiled a record of 38 wins, 29 losses and 9 overtime losses.
