He'll replace John Paddock, who will work as an assistant with Bryan Murray in Ottawa.

"This just seemed right for me," the 28-year-old Cameron said last night from Toronto. "I'm excited to be getting the opportunity to move up to the American Hockey League. It's a very good league and it's very competitive. It's one step from the NHL and when the opportunity presented itself, I couldn't turn it down."

Cameron, who has worked in the OHL for six seasons, is going to a place with plenty of familiar faces. The Majors are owned by Senators owner Eugene Melnyk and Cameron has had plenty of dealings with club president Roy Mlakar.

"The best way to describe it is I have mixed emotions," Cameron said. "It's been a great situation (with the Majors) with Eugene Melnyk as the owner and we've had a lot of success with this team."
