Binghamton, NY - Goaltender Riley McVeigh announced his retirement from playing hockey today in a social media post through the Binghamton Black Bears social media accounts.

McVeigh will not return for a 2nd season with the Black Bears.
After speculation in the off season that McVeigh would not be returning, McVeigh made it official today.

"I want to thank the amazing city of Binghamton and all the fans for their support over the past season. I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to play for such an amazing organization to end my hockey career. I want to thank Andreas and Coach Sherwood for providing a first-class experience and creating such a phenomenal organization. I can't wait to watch the bright future that is instore for the team.

I am moving on to pursue my M.B.A while working at the Minnesota Elite Goaltending Academy, and again from the bottom of my heart thank you to the fans that supported the team and I through everything.

You truly are the reason this experience was so enjoyable."

McVeigh last season with the Black Bears played in 24 games, and earned a record of 13-8-3 with a 3.51 GAA and a .896 save percentage.

The Black Bears will go into camp that starts on October 4th with 5 goaltenders biding for 2 spots including Sam LiVecchi, Joseph Ackley, Nolan Egbert, Connor MacAnanama and Jeremie Forget. There has been no word about Talor Joseph as he is possibly attending camp in the SPHL with an unknown team at the moment.
