The Penguins have played three fewer games than the Senators.

The Senators' first shot gave them a lead when winger Denis Hamel snapped an eight-game scoring slump by redirecting Arpad Mihaly's shot past Penguins goalie Sebastien Caron on the power play at 11:00 in the first.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton answered with three goals about five minutes against Emery, who returned from a one-day NHL call-up to Ottawa in time to start. Toby Peterson, veteran center Marquis Mathieu and Colby Armstrong scored for the Penguins.

Winger Alexandre Giroux cut the deficit to 3-2 by flipping the rebound of Andy Hedlund's power-play point shot over Caron at 13:38.
