BINGHAMTON, New York (Ticker) -- Andy Hedlund scored in overtime to lift the Binghamton Senators over the Albany River Rats, 4-3. Hedlund recorded a power-play goal 2:16 into the extra period. Denis Hamel snapped a 1-1 tie shorthanded 7:07 into the first period and assisted on a goal by Arpad Mihaly 8:55 into the second for Binghamton, which improved to 2-4-1-0 over its last seven contests. Billy Thompson had four saves in overtime and 27 overall for the win. Tuomas Pihlman tallied with 2:17 left in the second period and Adrian Foster tied the score at 3-3 for Albany with 4:28 remaining in the third. Ari Ahonen had 23 saves in defeat.

BINGHAMTON -- Andy Hedlund's one-timer of a Julien Vauclair pass with 3:44 remaining in overtime lifted the Binghamton Senators to a 4-3 victory over the Albany River Rats on Friday night.

Hedlund ripped a shot by the stick side of goalie Ari Ahonen to snap the Senators' three-game winless streak and prevent the River Rats from winning back-to-back games.

Albany rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a late second-period goal by Tuomas Pihlman and an Adrian Foster goal with 4:28 left in regulation to force overtime.

The Rats took the lead 56 seconds into the game when Senators goalie Billy Thompson poke-checked the puck to center Craig Darby, who flicked it into the net.

The Senators recovered when Brooks Laich deflected a shot behind Ahonen at 5:18 of the first and Denis Hamel scored on a shorthanded breakaway less than two minutes later.

Arpad Mihaly gave the Senators a 3-2 lead by blasting a shot at 8:55 of the second period.
