SENATORS FALL IN SHOOTOUT

The Senators earned three of four possible points in their weekend road trip to Norfolk but were beaten 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon.

After more than 36 minutes of scoreless hockey Pat Kavanagh put the Sens on top 1-0 with his third goal in two games at 16:04 of the second period. The unassisted goal was his tenth of the season.

Matt Ellison tied the game early in the third for the Admirals before Senators defenseman Jan Platil gave the Sens another lead with his first goal of the season. The short handed tally was assisted by Jason Spezza and Chris Kelly. With the assist Spezza now has 99 points for the season.

At 10:26 of the final period Marty Wilford tied the game 2-2. Rene Bourque received an assist on the play giving him four points in the two-game series (2g, 2a).

After a scoreless five minute overtime the game went to a shootout. In the shootout Matt Ellison scored in the fifth round lifting Norfolk to victory.

Ray Emery made 39 saves in the losing effort. Adam Munro earned the win for Norfolk stopping 31 of 33 shots.
