Initially, Biggs planned to fly here from his Cincinnati-area home.

The third inductee, one-time Binghamton Whalers forward Dallas Gaume, said last week he can't make it because of his duties as assistant coach of the Red Deer Rebels, a Canadian junior team.

Jones, Biggs and Gaume will be enshrined before the Binghamton Senators host the Philadelphia Phantoms. This marks the second straight season that two-thirds of an induction class missed the ceremony. Last March, coaching commitments precluded Peter Laviolette and Bob Sullivan from attending.

FALLEN EAVES

Patrick Eaves, the Ottawa Senators' 2003 first-round draft pick, was diagnosed Wednesday with a bruised lung and will miss Boston College's games this weekend in the Hockey East tournament.

Eaves, a 20-year-old forward, saw a pulmonary specialist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston and will be re-examined next week. He tops NCAA Tournament-bound BC with 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) in his junior season.

STOCKING UP

While coach Dave Cameron said the Senators aren't likely to add players before today's 3 p.m. deadline for teams to set their playoff roster, two of their East Division rivals are making moves.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have acquired defenseman Kyle Rossiter on loan from the Chicago Wolves. Rossiter had one goal, five assists and a minus-3 rating for Chicago. The move came one day after the Norfolk Admirals received defenseman Richard Seeley on loan from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

"If we make any move, it'll be to add depth," Cameron said.

SLAP SHOTS

Senators winger Grant Potulny played Wednesday night against Bridgeport. He missed the previous 28 games after undergoing hernia surgery in January. ... Former Binghamton Rangers coach Ron Smith, now a Carolina Hurricanes scout, was at the game. ... Northeastern University fired hockey coach Bruce Crowder on Wednesday. Crowder was assisted this season by former Senators assistant coach Gene Reilly.
